Summary: The good: Property looked just like the pictures, was relatively well equipped, had comfortable beds and couches, was warm and cozy, had a decently stocked kitchen, and a preheated hot tub. We were a short drive away from hiking trails like Old Man’s Cave. It was quiet and pretty at the property. Washer and dryer was provided and worked. The not so good: We arrived at the rental exactly on time for check-in (3pm), but had not yet received check-in instructions. The property is about 10 minutes away from cell reception, so we had to drive until we had signal again to then reach out to property management about access code. The access code that was then provided didn’t work on the digital door lock, so we sent another message to property management. Luckily, we now could log into the Wi-Fi to communicate with hosts. They gave us another code to try, which did work. I have never had to wait until after check-in time to receive access details for a rental property. It was very cold and not comfortable to wait outside. I understand they may want to prevent people from checking in too early, but with a smart lock they should have the ability to make the door code active at a certain date and time. I think the guests should be given access code 24 hours or so in advance, especially being rural and away from a working cell signal or wifi. Another note: there was very little toilet paper. Luckily we had brought some, but otherwise we would have been without after our first day. The hot tub was nice to have, but it wasn’t actually that hot and the jets were very weak. Overall, I’d stay here again, but would want the check-in process to be made easier.
