Welcome to Mayowex!! Mayowex has a newly renovated lower level as of August 2020.
This one-of-a-kind, luxury cottage is located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains; half-way between Hiawassee and Helen, GA in the beautiful and tranquil Soapstone Community. Soapstone borders the National Forest at the top of the ridge. Located at the end of the road, Mayowex offers an abundance of privacy, peace and tranquility all while being close to fun attractions!
This high-end furnished cabin is within minutes of Lake Chatuge (7 miles), which offers fantastic fishing and boating; Brasstown Bald (highest peak in Georgia); and the Appalachian Trail. Close to restaurants, shops and the marina; all this and approximately two hours from Atlanta, GA, Asheville, NC, Chattanooga, TN and Greenville, SC.
Our beautiful cottage in the mountains has two massive floor-to-ceiling indoor stone fireplaces, with an enormous third wood burning fireplace as part of the gorgeous outdoor kitchen; all this surrounded by views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The first/entry level has an upscale kitchen with granite countertops, Bosch stainless steel appliances, a built-in wine cooler, and cathedral ceilings in the open floor great room/dinning area. The huge master suite with cathedral ceiling has its own private bath with a Jacuzzi tub, separate shower, dual sinks, and all freshly updated linens for the king bed as well as new curtains and a fresh coat of paint. Newly renovated lower level has new paint and flooring and all beds have new linens. The rooms also have new curtains and rugs and all bathrooms have been outfitted with new towels. Also located on the first floor is a ½ bath and laundry room.
Relax on the large screened in porch off the great room which offers stunning mountain views that can be taken in from the large outdoor dining table, lounge furniture, and rocking chairs. The large screened in porch also has entry and exit to the master bedroom on the main floor.
The lower level offers two large bedrooms (king and queen beds) with walk-in closets, mountain views and a huge stone shower in the shared full bathroom. The lower level also has a covered porch with another rocking chair, rustic seating, small breakfast table, and walk out to the flagstone patio with fireplace, grill, burners and a sink. The lower level also has its own entrance separate from the main entrance if guests would like to use it. The lower level can also be accessed from the main floor.

Three flat screen TVs, board games, playing cards, a wireless speaker for music, front loader W/D, lush landscape and for all bird lovers, a beautiful bird feeder right out the front window.
The pantry and refrigerator are stocked with common items.
We have a Keurig for your convenience. There is a new retro fridge located on the lower level for guests wishing to have cold beverages within their reach.
